    Housing and Room Info

  • +What comes in the room (bed size, furniture, microwave, etc.)?

    All rooms come with a twin extra long bed, a dresser, a desk with chair and hutch, and closet space for each resident. Please review our Floor Plans page for additional information!
  • +Can beds be lofted/bunked/raised?

    Yes, beds can be lofted! Please email cornishcommons@seattleu.edu if you’d like to have your bed lofted. This will be done within the first few weeks of the semester.

    Yes, beds can be raised! The default space underneath the bed is 24 inches but can be extended to 36 inches. Please email cornishcommons@seattleu.edu if you’d like to have your bed raised. This can be done prior to your arrival with enough notice.
  • +Can we have the furniture removed?

    No, all university provided furniture must remain in the room at all times, no matter how many residents are occupying the room.
  • +What is my mailing address?

  • +Can I ship items to campus ahead of time?

    Yes! Items shipped using your resident mailing address will be accepted starting on August 13th. Please do not send items before that date.

    All items shipped ahead of move-in MUST be picked up from Campus Services No later than Friday, September 5th.
  • +What about food/grocery deliveries?

    If a resident, would like to order food, Doordash, UberEats, Grubhuh, Instacart, perishables, etc. please use 2025 Terry Ave. as the address.

    The resident MUST be present and meet the delivery person outside the front doors.

    Delivery persons are NOT allowed in the building and they are NOT allowed to leave the delivery unattended for a resident to pick up later.
  • +Can I change my meal plan?

    Yes, please email cornishcommons@seattleu.edu if you’d like to change your meal plan. If you are unsure about which meal plan you selected, you can view your student account invoice for the Fall and it will indicate which plan you have.
  • +Can I request a different roommate/room type?

    Yes, please fill out the 2025-2026 Housing and Residence Life Room Change Request form! This form was emailed to all residents as part of their room assignment email.

    We will have a nearly full building in the Fall, we cannot guarantee we will be able to accommodate room change requests prior to moving in.
  • +What do I bring to Cornish Commons?

    You can find a complete list of what you should consider bringing for your room in Cornish Commons on our What to Bring page. If you have any questions or are unsure of a specific item, please refer to the housing contract or email us at cornishcommons@seattleu.edu.

    Move-In Day

  • +What can I expect from Cornish Commons staff on move-in day?

    Our team will be here to answer questions, chat about life, and work endlessly to provide you and your move-in helpers with a great move-in day experience.
  • +Will I be able to bring a moving truck or U-Haul?

    Yes, however we do not offer on-site parking, parking downtown may be difficult with a moving truck/U-Haul depending on the size.
  • +Can I arrive before or after my assigned window?

  • +Can I change the day I move in?

    We strive to have all new residents move in on Saturday the 23rd! If that’s not possible, please email cornishcommons@seattleu.edu.
  • +What if my flight or travel plans are delayed?

  • +Are my guests/family allowed to help me move in?

    Family and friends are definitely allowed to help residents move into the residence hall! Residents, please be sure to stay with your guests during the move-in process so your guests don't get lost.

    To maintain our safe and secure building for all, please ensure that all guests are properly checked in at the welcome desk, and follow guest visitation policies, after 8 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

    Amenities and Building Features

  • +Is there air conditioning in the rooms?

    No, there is no air conditioning in the rooms, only heating. We recommend bringing a fan. We have a limited amount that can be checked out through the Welcome Desk.
  • +Do you have bike storage?

  • +What kind of laundry system is in place (coins, app, cost)?

    Our communal laundry room is located on our 20th floor. Washers and Dryers are operated using the CSCPAY Mobile App, debit/credit card, or by tap-to-pay! Using card or tap-to-pay will incur a convenience fee. Wash and dry cycles cost $2 respectively.
  • +Is there a communal kitchen?

    Yes, there is a communal kitchen located on our 20th floor. The kitchen has a full sized fridge/freezer, stove, and oven. Residents are responsible for cleaning up after themselves when using the communal kitchen.
  • +What else does the 20th floor lounge have to offer?

    Roommates and Living Together

  • +Will I have a Resident Assistant (RA)?

    Yes, each floor will have an assigned RA! An RA is an upper classman specifically trained in campus resources, conflict resolution, community building, and emergency response. We will have at least one RA available 24/7 for emergencies, and each individual RA can assist with campus living questions/concerns.
  • +What should we do if my roommate and I have a conflict?

    The first step would be to reach out to your Resident Assistant who can walk through what your options are depending on the context.
  • +Can we change roommates later if things don’t work out?

    Yes, changing roommates, depending on spacing and availability, is a possibility! Your RA can walk you through all of your options prior to changing rooms/roommates.
  • +What support do I have if issues come up living with another person?

    Your RA, any other RA, and the Professional Housing Staff (located on the 3rd floor of The Commons) can all help navigate living with another person!

    Billing and Financial

  • +I didn’t receive my first preference for my room type. How can I switch rooms to a different room type?

    Please fill out the 2025-2026 Housing and Residence Life Room Change Request form! We will have a nearly full building in the Fall and were unable to accommodate everyone’s first preference. We cannot guarantee we will be able to accommodate all room change requests.
  • +When will the housing charges be posted to my account?

    Your student account will reflect housing assignment within a few weeks. This process can take some time.
  • +Who do I talk to if I have questions about payment or financial aid?

    For billing, payment, or account questions, residents may reach out to Student Accounts at studentaccounts@cornish.edu or 206.726.5025

    For financial aid questions, residents should reach out to Financial Aid at finaid@cornish.edu.

  • +How do I submit a maintenance request once I’m living there?

    To submit a maintenance request, please email cornishcommons@seattleu.edu with your room number, a detailed description of the work order, and include any pictures if possible.

    If it’s an emergency work order, please call our 24/7 emergency line (provided at move-in) or visit our Welcome Desk.
  • +Are there rules about pets or emotional support animals?

    Residents are permitted to keep one fish kept in a tank limited to no more than ten gallons in size. All other pets are prohibited.

    Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) can be requested and approved by Disability Services. All ESAs must receive approval prior to being on campus. Visit our Disability Services webpage for additional information.
  • +Where can I get additional information?
